Kate Winslet Vogue-címlaplányból lett haditudósítót játszik egy készülő életrajzi filmben

A színésznő a csodálatos Lee Millert alakítja majd, aki címlapmodellből lett második világháborús haditudósító.

A Lee című film a bátor nő életének azt a szakaszát követi végig, amikor fotóriporterként felkeresi a második világháború frontvonalait. Egy váratlan fordulat következtében azonban Lee Miller kénytelen szembenézni a saját múltjával is. A filmet Ellen Kuras fogja rendezni, akivel Kate Winslet már az Egy makulátlan elme örök ragyogása című film kapcsán dolgozott együtt.

Lee Miller had started to feel frustrated with her wartime fashion work for Vogue. Wanting to focus more on photojournalism and do more to aid the war effort, she applied (without telling her editors) for accreditation as a war correspondent . . . In July 1944, Lee flew out to Normandy. Her vivid, stream-of-conscientiousness prose made people pay attention. Here was a witness account like no other of the siege of St Malo, the liberation of Paris and the U.S army’s push into Germany. Lee entered Buchenwald five days after it was liberated, revealing the horrors of the camp in a June 1945 article she titled ‘Believe It’. Then came Dachau, the day after the camp’s liberation. As the conflict came to an end, Lee kept going across Europe, reporting on the after-effects of war, of the devastation and poverty left in its wake. It would take her twenty years to recover from the experience . .

A forgatókönyv Lee Miller fia, Anthony Penrose a The Lives of Lee Miller című könyve alapján készült. A közös produkció forgatása a tervek szerint 2021 tavaszán fog elkezdődni, de a készítők már a jövő évi virtuális formában jelentkező Cannes-i Filmfesztiválon való részvételről is beszélnek.

‘Farleys is a unique and important place. . Celebrating and displaying the life lived, loved and sometimes fought for, by the iconic and heroic Lee Miller. Farley’s is where a brave woman broken by war built a home, survived and thrived. Lee Miller is an invaluable inspiration to so many women, not just for now but for future generations, and Farley Farmhouse is so evocative of her spirit….not a museum, but a home. . And to be hosted by Lee’s almighty spirit and to be able to walk in her footsteps is an invaluable experience to treasure. . Farleys must remain open!’ wrote Kate Winslet when she heard of our Help Farleys survive campaign on crowd funder. . . . . Kate Winslet has visited the depths of the Lee Miller Archives on several occasions to study Lee’s work, manuscripts and diaries first hand while the Lee Miller movie has been at its various stages of progress. She has been an admirer of Lee’s work from even before the movie was talked about. This picture that she permitted us to share in support of our Help @FarleysHG (which is where we, the archives are also based) crowd funder campaign is from her first visit in November 2015. . . . . . „Lee egy olyan nő volt, akit nagyon nagyra tartok és hatalmas szerencsém van, amiért én játszhatom el őt ebben a filmben. Egy extrém szerető, gondolkodó, életigenlő, szakács, Vogue-címlaplány és háborús tudósító, aki egyben egy ikon és szerető édesanya is volt” – lelkendezett az Oscar-díjas Kate Winslet a film és Lee Miller kapcsán.
